Saddle Reviews – Before Buying a New Saddle, Read as Many Reviews as You Can
I love to research things to death, and since I love to buy new saddles I also love to research and read saddle reviews. If you are willing to spend some time you can find information online on just about any western saddle you might be thinking of buying, or any saddle for that matter.
The first place you might go to get some reviews is a horse message board or forum, particularly one that talks about the type of riding you do. If you are an endurance rider looking for an endurance saddle, check out all the forums you can in order to find out what people are talking about. Search the archives and see if you can find some conversations about the saddle you’re looking at. If you don’t see anything, go ahead and ask in the forum.
I fine most of my answers and most of the reviews I need on the message boards. You can search for these forums by going to Google and typing in the name of your saddle plus the word “forums” or “message boards.” Another way is to type into Google any question you have about the saddle and you might get a result showing you where someone has asked that same question.
Another way to find some reviews is to just type in your saddle name in the search engine along with the word “reviews” or “opinions” or even “testimonials.” But be careful because you may find yourself on a site that is selling that particular saddle and it might not be an unbiased review. You want to find honest customer reviews and opinions. Otherwise they will be of no help to you.
Sometimes sites that sell saddles also have message boards, and you can read about the saddle there. Even though this is located on a site that is selling saddles, these are real customer saddle reviews. Go ahead and search through the conversations or post a question yourself.
With a little research you can save yourself the bother of buying a saddle that has a lot of negative reviews.
